GLS and DPD Forge Strategic Partnership to Deliver More Flexible Parcel Pickup Options in Hungary
Our Markets 9 December 2025
A major milestone has been reached in the Hungarian logistics sector: GLS Hungary has opened its parcel locker network to external partners, with DPD Hungary becoming the first company to join the system. As a result, DPD parcels will soon be available for pickup from a significant share of GLS lockers nationwide. This cooperation not only enhances customer convenience but also increases operational efficiency and supports the sustainable fulfilment of the rapidly growing demands of e-commerce.
In June 2025, GLS opened its parcel locker network to third-party providers, with DPD joining as the first partner—extending the successful cooperation the two companies have already established in Germany and the Czech Republic to the Hungarian market.
The popularity of parcel lockers is unquestionable: since September 2023, their number has doubled, and more than 9,400 lockers are now available to Hungarian consumers. This agreement marks a key step in meeting the continuously rising expectations of online shoppers, as more than 1,400 additional lockers will offer pickup for DPD parcels. From early 2026, approximately 3,000 pickup locations nationwide will support flexible parcel collection for DPD customers.
“DPD is committed to innovation and sustainable operations. Our partnership with GLS goes beyond expanding our network—it represents a step towards a more efficient logistics ecosystem. Our goal is to create value for both our customers and the market through continuous development,” said Szabolcs Czifrik, Managing Director of DPD Hungary.
“A few weeks ago, we celebrated the installation of our 2,500th parcel locker. With this, we now provide highly flexible parcel solutions through nearly 3,500 pickup points across more than 740 municipalities. This new partnership will make our network even more sustainable and accessible to a wider range of customers,” said Attila Balázs, Managing Director of GLS Hungary.
This cooperation reinforces both companies’ commitment to the development of the Hungarian e-commerce market—offering maximum flexibility and sustainable solutions for shoppers, including throughout the upcoming Christmas season.
