Pickup launches its multi-service fresh locker, designed to reinvent local services

Our Markets 9 October 2025

A modular, all-in-one solution, exclusive in France, designed to support local businesses and meet everyday needs.

Pickup, a subsidiary of La Poste Group and France's leader in parcel lockers and collection points, is unveiling a new service in France: the fresh multi-service locker. This new generation locker system, developed in partnership with Le Casier Français, combines dry lockers and refrigerated lockers to offer a wider range of local services 24/7. It is a concrete response to the new expectations of consumers, retailers, and local communities.

Innovative technology serving everyday needs

This parcel locker represents much more than a simple pickup point. Designed as a genuine hub for local services, Pickup’s fresh multi-service locker offers a wide range of services, including:

● Click & collect dry or fresh goods prepared by local retailers or community organizations.

● Purchase fresh local products, available on a self-service basis, like a vending machine.

● Pick up, ship or return parcels.

Accessible anytime, 24/7, this “French-made” solution combines ergonomic design with intuitive features for a seamless experience. Transparent lockers for fresh products ensure full visibility, while its sleek and modern interface, developed by Le Casier Français, makes using it effortless for all users.

Gradual rollouts starting in 2025

With the fresh multi-service locker, presented at VivaTech 2025, Pickup reaffirms its position as an innovative actor in the out-of-home market. Discussions are underway for the first rollouts of this new model by the end of the year. The aim is to install around 15 units by the end of 2026, prioritizing high-traffic areas in city centers. This innovation is fully aligned with the development strategy of Pickup, which currently operates nearly 5,500 lockers across France. More broadly, the company is aiming for a total of 6,500 lockers by the end of the year and 9,000 by the end of 2026 to meet rising demand.

A growth driver for local businesses and communities

Beyond serving users, Pickup's fresh multi-service locker becomes a new 24/7 distribution channel for online retailers and local businesses, generating visibility, brand awareness, and sales. It enables them to retain their existing customers by offering a new service, but also to attract new customers by making their products accessible, without intermediaries, beyond their usual opening hours and trading areas.

Meanwhile, retailers hosting a fresh multi-service locker in their store benefit from increased traffic.

For local authorities, this solution contributes to the dynamism of the local economy, promotes short supply chains, and meets the new expectations of citizens.

“Through this innovation, we want to make daily life easier for citizens, while creating new opportunities for retailers and local authorities. The parcel locker becomes a meeting point between local shops, e-commerce, and urban services. It embodies our vision of a more fluid, locally-based, and sustainable logistics system.” says Maxime d’Hauteville, President of Pickup.

Underlying trends confirms the potential of the model

Out-of-home parcel collection and drop-off, self-service sales, click & collect, short supply chains... Pickup 's services and activities are perfectly aligned with evolving consumer habits. According to Geopost's 2025 e-shopper barometer, parcel locker delivery is gaining ground, with a 9% increase in France by 2025. At the same time, click & collect continues to attract consumers, with nearly two out of three French people using it in 2024, reports Statista. We are also observing a rise in self-service sales and local consumption.

These developments show a growing demand for hybrid services that combine proximity, flexibility, and autonomy. Fresh parcel lockers respond to these new uses.
