World Cleanup Day: From Local Actions to Global Impact
Sustainability 16 October 2025

Across our network at Geopost, teams took action to protect the planet - one clean-up at a time.
Throughout September, our teams united to take part in World Cleanup Day, reaffirming their commitment to sustainability through a wide range of local initiatives. From clean-up walks to awareness campaigns, each contributing business played a part in making a difference.
From city streets to office spaces, our teams showed that sustainability is more than a commitment - it’s a collective mindset in action.
What is World Cleanup Day?
World Cleanup Day is one of the largest civic movements in the world, mobilising over 114 million volunteers across more than 190 countries and territories to tackle the global waste crisis. Launched in 2008 in Estonia, the initiative has grown into a powerful symbol of collective action and environmental responsibility. In 2023, it was officially recognised by the United Nations as an International Day, reinforcing its global significance and impact.
A Network-Wide Movement at Geopost
Businesses across our network embraced the initiative in diverse and creative ways:
- DPD France, Chronopost, Chronofresh, DPD Germany, Biocair, DPD UK, DPD Estonia, Speedy, DPD Netherlands and Geopost organised local clean-up walks, collecting waste and raising awareness in their communities.
- DPD Slovenia and DPD Croatia also supported the initiative by encouraging all employees to participate locally and clean up their workplaces.
- DPD Portugal launched an internal campaign focused on fashion and textile waste, encouraging employees to rethink consumption habits and embrace circular practices.
-
SEUR took the digital route, inviting employees to declutter their virtual spaces -email inboxes, shared drives, and desktops - during a Digital Clean-Up Day.
Spotlight on Impact
Some initiatives stood out for their scale and creativity:
- In Bulgaria, Speedy mobilised 140 participants across multiple locations, collecting an impressive 514 kg of waste.
- At DPD Germany, not less than 200 employees joined clean-up efforts around depots and offices, collecting approximately 30 m³ of waste - the equivalent of two fully loaded delivery vans. Some teams also planted trees and shrubs to support local biodiversity.
- DPD Czech Republic partnered with local NGOs, offering free delivery of cleaning supplies to volunteers engaged in environmental clean-up efforts.
In total, more than 650 kg of waste were collected across the Geopost network, thanks to the involvement of 556 participants. A powerful demonstration of what we can achieve together
