BRT alongside Médecins Sans Frontières to support mobile clinics in the Afar region of Ethiopia

Our Markets 14 April 2026

BRT strengthens its commitment to corporate social responsibility through a partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in support of the mobile clinic project in the Afar region of Ethiopia.

The initiative is part of a vision that interprets logistics not only as an economic driver, but as an essential infrastructure to ensure access, continuity, and resilience, even in highly complex humanitarian contexts.

BRT’s contribution is aimed at strengthening the healthcare logistics of MSF’s mobile clinics—units designed to operate in areas marked by geographical marginalisation, fragile infrastructure, and extremely limited access to basic services.
Through the use of flexible transport assets and operational solutions, mobile clinics make it possible to reach communities otherwise excluded from primary healthcare, particularly within prevention programmes, maternal and child health services, and the treatment of the most common diseases.

The Afar region represents one of the most challenging contexts in the Horn of Africa, shaped by the interaction of climate crises, food insecurity, and socio‑economic instability. Under these conditions, the ability to deliver healthcare services directly to local communities becomes a critical factor in ensuring continuity of care and safeguarding public health. According to MSF operational data (2023–2024), rates of acute malnutrition among children under five reach critical levels (26%), while access to healthcare facilities remains severely limited.

The partnership between BRT and MSF is rooted in the shared awareness that the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions also depends on the strength of the logistical infrastructures that make them possible. Within this framework, BRT’s support helps ensure operational capacity, timeliness, and continuity of healthcare interventions in the most difficult-to-reach areas.

“Working every day at the heart of logistics flows has taught us that distance is not only a geographical variable, but a condition that can determine inclusion or exclusion”.

Said Eleonora Sales, External & Internal Communication Manager at BRT.

“Supporting Médecins Sans Frontières’ mobile clinics reflects a shared vision of logistics as an essential infrastructure—capable of connecting resources and needs, and of making access to healthcare tangible in contexts where this right cannot be taken for granted.”

From MSF’s perspective, strengthening logistics is a key element in maintaining the effectiveness of field operations.

“Mobile clinics are an essential tool for reaching populations that live outside traditional healthcare systems,” stated Laura Perrotta, Fundraising Director of Médecins Sans Frontières Italy. “Partnerships such as the one with BRT help ensure operational continuity and make healthcare interventions sustainable over time in extremely complex settings.”

Through this initiative, BRT confirms an approach to sustainability founded on the integration of economic responsibility, strategic expertise, and measurable social impact, reinforcing its role as a responsible actor within an interdependent economic and social ecosystem.
