DPD Portugal and Nespresso expand their sustainable delivery service

The two brands' commitment to sustainability is reinforced with deliveries in electric vehicles and DPD Pickup parcelshops network

Nespresso's commitment to sustainability made the brand reinforce its partnership with DPD Portugal and focus on expanding sustainable deliveries with electric vehicles.

In addition to increasing its focus on green deliveries, Nespresso will also expand its product delivery service to the already implemented DPD Pickup parcelshops network, which now has more than 1,100 stores and 200 smart lockers.

"DPD Portugal has been committed to taking measures to reduce the carbon footprint in deliveries and our strategy also involves creating greater sustainable awareness among consumers. It is very gratifying to see brands like Nespresso joining us in this challenge and allow their customers to make more ecological choices, such as the option for DPD Pickup stores and lockers for deliveries, automatically reducing 90% of carbon emissions in Portuguese cities",

underlines Olivier Establet, CEO of DPD Portugal.

Having already achieved carbon neutrality in its commercial activity, Nespresso intends to be neutral in the emissions that occur in its supply chain and in their product's life cycle. The extension of the green delivery strategy represents the brand's commitment to an increasingly sustainable operation.

At the same time, Nespresso's investment in recycling materializes in the provision of more than 250 recycling points in Portugal so that the Portuguese can also be inspired to create a more positive movement with their capsules. Used Nespresso capsules can also be delivered to DPD employees to be part of the recycling process, with aluminum used in the production of cars, window frames and bicycles.

The increased convenience of deliveries for Nespresso customers was also extended to deliveries in 1 to 2 hours, with DPD Now service.

“Consumers want to be able to choose where and when they receive their parcels, while also combining sustainability. DPD Now is also carried out using electric scooters, not dissociating speed from environmental protection”,

continues Olivier Establet.
