Pickup rolls out parcel pick-up lockers in Louvre Hotel Group hotels throughout France

Pickup, a subsidiary of La Poste Group and the number one network of relay and consignment outlets in France, has entered into a partnership with Louvre Hotels Group (Europe's 2nd largest hotel group) via its internal startup Weboost. This is the first time that Pickup has teamed up with a hotel group to install parcel collection points in hotels. Up to 150 lockers will be deployed in the group's establishments throughout France within 18 months. A practical and innovative solution that anchors the hotel as a place of service for nearby residents!

As the out-of-home delivery market continues to grow, the use of automatic lockers is also becoming more popular. Proof of this is the fact that this delivery option will gain three percentage points in 2022 in France, according to the recent Geopost e-shopper barometer, with 20% of cyber shoppers favouring the deposit, compared to 17% in 2021.

In response to these new uses, Pickup has teamed up with Louvre Hotels Group to offer parcel pick-up in the group's hotels in France. This roll-out will mainly concern the Kyriad, Kyriad Direct, Campanile and Première Classe brands. The first phase of the roll-out from February to April resulted in around twenty lockers being installed across France, with more to come over the next few months.

Located in the hotels' outdoor car parks, these connected lockers are open 7 days a week.  They provide convenience and flexibility to users, who can take advantage of this unrivalled range of opening hours to collect their parcels completely independently, at any time of the day or night. And all in total security, thanks to the cameras fitted to the lockers.

The parcels that can be delivered to the Pickup lockers are Chronopost, Colissimo, and soon DPD France parcels, from orders placed with one of the 90,000 partner e-tailers.

This solution enables the hotels concerned to enhance their service offering and increase their added value, not only for their customers, but also for the residents living nearby! It is a great opportunity for them to make their hotel known to a new public and to increase their presence in the public eye.

For Pickup, the stakes of this partnership are twofold. It allows Le Groupe La Poste, already the market leader with 16,000 outlets and 1,000 lockers in France, to expand its network and offer customers an even more convenient service as they go about their daily lives. These new lockers are also a way for Pickup to better absorb the growth in volumes, to support the surrounding retail outlets and prevent possible overloads. A real plus for everyone!

“We are thrilled with this partnership, which gives us the perfect opportunity to invest in a new arena. This is the first time we have installed our lockers in hotels! We are happy to be able to diversify our locations, to cover a wider target and meet the needs of as many people as possible. After this first phase of roll-outs, we hope to extend our partnership to other hotels in the group.”

Maxime d'Hauteville, Chairman of Pickup

"Louvre Hotels Group is delighted to be the first hotel company to collaborate with Pickup to provide a left-luggage collection service in its hotels in France. This initiative is part of our commitment to provide our guests with an increasingly convenient and innovative stay experience. We are delighted to be able to offer this new service to our guests and to all the residents living near our hotels."

Maëlle Perennec, Responsable stratégie & innovation de Louvre Hotels Group

How does the system work in practice?

  1. The customer orders an item online, via one of the 90,000 e-commerce websites offering delivery to Pickup points, with Chronopost, Colissimo (and soon DPD France).

  2. When choosing the delivery option, the customer selects “delivery to a pickup point”.

  3. If a Pickup locker in a Louvre Hotels Group store (Kyriad, Campanile, Première Classe, etc.) is available nearby, the customer simply selects this locker as the delivery point.

  4. They then receive their collection codes (2 four-digit codes) and QR code by e-mail and/or SMS.

They then have five days to pick up their parcel.

  5. When the customer arrives at the locker, he/she either scans his/her authentication QR code or enters his/her identifiers on the locker screen to retrieve their parcel.
